The Invisalign process is a nationally known process that utilizes a series of clear shells, worn 24/7 except when eating, to gradually move the teeth to the desired position. This allows patients to achieve orthodontic results without having to wear the traditional brackets that are not esthetically pleasing to wear during the treatment process. The total number of aligners required depends on the amount of tooth movement required.
All cases have radiographs taken of the TMJ, electrodiagnostics to verify the health of the joint, and diagnostic records taken to verify the treatment goal. You will have the opportunity to see the proposed end result prior to the actual fabrication of the aligners, so you will have an image of where you are headed. Refinement trays can be used at the end of treatment to fine tune your final position as well. This process is also used during Phase II treatment for patients with TMD wishing to achieve a more stable position without having to wear an orthotic longterm. |
